Floresville council honors Marco Martinez

With his family beside him, Marco Martinez, 11, a Floresville accordionist who was named Champion of the Rising Stars ages 12 and under, through the Texas Folklife’s “The Big Squeeze” accordion competition, is recognized Aug. 12 by the Floresville City Council for “his outstanding contributions and for representing our community with pride and excellence,” as stated in a proclamation. Presenting the recognition is Mayor Gloria Morales Cantu, with council members (far left) Mario Morones and Dora Barrera Cantu, and (far right) council members Frances Flores and Felix Cantu. Councilman Jake Lamberth witnessed the presentation via Zoom.
